It's best to shave in the morning, right after showering and before breakfast: your hair, composed primarily of keratin, will be softer and easier to cut, and your facial skin will be less sensitive. Prepare your shaving cream by filling your brush with soap or shaving cream. Using products called shaving preparations serves a dual purpose: first, it improves hair hydration by removing the layer of oil (sebum), and second, it protects the skin from the aggression of the razor. With shaving soap: With your face wet beforehand (ideally after a shower), quickly run your brush under warm water and work the soap into the bowl (without squashing the hairs) until you achieve a thick, creamy lather. Apply it to your face in circular motions for one to two minutes to soften and smooth the hairs. With shaving cream: After prepping your face and moistening your shaving brush with warm water, apply a small amount of shaving cream to the brush and work into a lather for one to two minutes as described above. Some users prefer to use the tube to file a line of cream directly onto each cheek and then emulsify it with the brush. To maintain the quality of your shaving brush for many years, we recommend rinsing it thoroughly after each use to remove any traces of cream or soap and emptying it. Then gently rub it on a towel before placing it upside down on a suitable stand.
